Hi, I’m Mike.

I created LeadershipEDGE for a few reasons – primarily because I felt it was right in my sweet spot and ‘on purpose’ with Inspiring Leaders to Master their Craft. I’ve been in the world of leadership development since my early days as an Armored Cavalry Officer in the late 90s. I’ve read, I’ve studied, I’ve experienced, I’ve taught, and I’ve coached.

I’ve been a leader for most of my life, so this is beyond theory. I’ve seen these principles work at every level from Team Leader to C-Level.

This is my hope for you:

  • This program is for leaders with 2-5 years of experience who are looking to rapidly accelerate their careers and have a greater impact as a leader. It’s also perfect for leaders with 6-10 years of experience who have hit a plateau and want to get to the next level.

    In general, LeadershipEDGE is for leaders who don’t learn like everybody else. If you are disciplined enough to sit in a classroom passively being fed theories and leadership models, LeadershipEDGE is NOT for you. We’ll mix activities, practice, reflection, and real-world scenarios together in a way that gets you the skills you need NOW. My experience in Lean Six Sigma taught me to cut out the waste and focus on the 20% of work that gets 80% of the results.

    I’ve been a leader in a whole host of industries – Armored Cavalry, boutique wine, legal, big firm consulting. So the principles we’ll cover don’t just work in one industry – they work EVERYWHERE.

  • Honestly, whenever you feel like it’s time to invest in building your skills. The content is geared towards leaders with at least 2 years experience leading multiple people, but it is applicable for leaders with more experience. The key is that you WANT to invest in building your capabilities and are ACTIVELY SEEKING growth and development. You are READY to Discover the EDGE.

    Most leaders don’t spend enough time on the mindset/BE side of leadership, so this program can enhance the foundation. We also cover core topics like time/meeting management, leadership flexibility/coaching, accountability/feedback, and support networks/stakeholder management.

    Plus there is an element of personalization where you get to CHOOSE your “deep dive” topic and receive 1:1 support to hone your skills.

  • Traditional programs rarely focus enough on application and personalization. It’s a fire hose approach where attendees leave all wet but still thirsty. (not all of them, but many)

    When I was leading digital learning at Bain, I used to listen to how people WANTED to learn and then observed their ACTUAL behavior. I took that “voice of the customer” data into the design.

    LeadershipEDGE stands out for its personalized approach, blending theory, practice, and connection in a way that targets your immediate needs as a leader. It provides direct access to expertise and a community of like-minded leaders.

    Unlike traditional programs, LeadershipEDGE emphasizes experiential learning, immediate application of skills, and building connections with other leaders. It's a practical, high-impact approach.

  • At a minimum, you’ll need to set aside 90 mins weekly for the live sessions. There will be optional pre-work designed to take 15-20 mins each week and weekly reflections designed to take 5 mins (Friday 5s). During weeks 7 + 8, there may be an additional 1-2 hours required to research and prepare for your self-study topic presentation back to the group.

    As a student of leadership, I know I can go down a rabbit hole when I start to discover something new, so no guarantees you won’t choose to invest more time. As John Maxwell says, “Leaders develop daily, not in a day.”

  • We will range between 5 and 12 depending on the cycle. For this first group, we are targeting 8 leaders.

  • This has been a bit of a labor of love. I took the best of the leadership programs I have attended/built including the US Army, Gallo Leadership Fundamentals., Blanchard, Dale Carnegie, Co-Active coaching certification, and many others.

    I drew from leadership books and studies I’ve read over the last 20 years. I included modules from my organizational psychology program, experience coaching leaders for the last 10+ years, and practical real-world experience leading people from the Armored Cavalry to Bain & Company at every level (from team leader to C-Level).

    I mixed all that up using years of learning design + lean (to get rid of the waste) and agile (to encourage us to test & learn).

    This is not a classroom program- it’s a focus on specific mindsets, behaviors, and skills to apply in real-world leadership situations.
